Welcome to Hijabi Fashion Week - Nov 2010

Salam and welcome to Hijabi Fashion Week!  During the next seven days, your favorite bloggers will be presenting looks they have put together for a variety of different occasions!  I hope that you'll find as much inspiration in their styles as I do :]

Make new friends; discover new blogs.  Below each picture, you'll find the link to the corresponding blog.  Be sure to check them out for more pics and details on your favorite outfits!

Grab a cup of coffee, the weekend is over and we've got a busy week ahead of us.  No worries though, you can be sure we ladies like to work it in style.

Great outfits indeed! What I find really interesting is that I often see a combination of clothes meant to be sexy (open-toe high heels, short-ish dresses/tunics, skinny jeans) with clothes meant to be modest (hijab, long-sleeved shirt, floor-length skirt). I'm all for it (I'm not a total modesty advocate), but how does that work together for keeping with the modest mindset? Just curious...

Cheers,
poet

PS: Though I really admire these stylings I have to be honest and say that I'm rather for changing the world such that women can dress the way they want (including but *not limited to* modest clothes) and don't *have to* dress modestly in order to not attract "the wrong kind of attention", than for calling women to cover up so they won't be harmed as you write on your "About" page... A woman should be respected no matter her attire, even though of course we all need to respect our surroundings, too, in deciding how we dress. Complicated matter, mhm...
